Year-to-Date Mail Volumes
Total mail volumes in May were approximately 1.3 billion pieces higher than the same month last year. With the exception of periodicals and international mail, all categories showed an increase. Volumes YTD are 1 percent over last year.

The Dreaded Deadline has Arrived
US Environmental Protection Agencies mandate that 80 percent of refinery output of on highway fuel consists of ultra low sulfur diesel is now in effect. As of June 1 refiners had to begin producing or importing USLD, but retail outlets have until October 15 to be in full compliance. The America Trucking Association worries that the transition may cause fuel supply disruptions and will increase carriers costs at a time when fuel prices are already at historic highs.
